Monday, June 21st, 2010

Most people want to stay in a well designed house but only a few are willing to spend money to decorate their houses. However, refurbishing a house need not be super expensive. With simple touch of style, consistency in color combination and perfectly matched furniture, a brand new look for your house will be within your reach and budget.

Let us start from the wall since it is the biggest area for any house. Paint it with a neutral color to make it easier to choose our furniture to blend in. White is pretty much and always been the first choice. It is not only clean for visual appeal but also makes the entire room seems bigger, more spacious as well as relaxing. White also enhances indoor lighting when natural lighting comes in through the wide windows. With regard to flooring, it need not be replaced as long as it is still intact and complete. An option of buying new area rugs or carpet may be enough to give your home a new appearance.

In decorating the kitchen, people need not buy new cupboards and storage facilities as long as they are all usable and functional. If it can be repainted, then do it. If cupboards are made of good quality wood, then apply varnish instead of coloring them.

In terms of furniture choices, refurnishing your home with old-fashioned pieces of furniture will save you some money. Check out your local garage sale in the community or nearby area. Furniture being sold among garage sales are quiet functional and very affordable. Some of the commonly found items include retro bar stools, old lampshades, old framed paintings and many more. You can purchase everything that you like without stretching your budget.

With the above stated cheap decorating tips and garage hunting, you can have a new look for your house. Pushing for a retro theme allows your house to be always in trend because retro style doesn’t get out of tune.

Orange comes in many shades. There are very bright oranges as well as lighter and earthier options. Peach and all its varieties can be safer and softer choices for some rooms. Terracotta is another good choice if you want to add some color but if you do not want the walls to be screaming out in bright orange. However, if you are not afraid of using bold and bright colors, they can be a stunning choice for the living room. They also work very well in the kitchen and can be used to make even a small room look more inviting and more spacious.

When using orange you need to contemplate the color scheme in the room carefully. Some colors can mix very well with orange, but others can create an effect that is too overpowering. Brown and other earthy tones are a stylish and safe option. Blue and green can go well together with some shades of orange, and for a very stimulating and fiery look try yellow and red together with orange. Sometimes orange wallpapers can come with borders or designs in other colors and these can break down the intensity of the color.

One of the colors that do not mix so well with orange is pink, and black and orange will probably remind people too much of Halloween. Surprisingly, purple is a good color to combine with orange but usually only in small amounts.
