V Neck T Shirts Blue Jeans And A Pair Of High Tops

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

V Neck T Shirts were always part of my basic daily wardrobe as a teenager in South San Francisco.  We wore straight leg Levis jeans, and Nike’s old school version of the high top sneaker, which looks nothing like they do now. In the late 1970s, the teen male was not apart of the crowd if they did not own a Derby jacket either. The Bay Area weather always dictated that you wore layers of clothing, because it was always chilly and damp in the morning, warm around lunchtime, and we would get a brisk wind of the bay in the evening.

Every month after getting paid for doing the neighborhood paper route near Longford Drive, and Clay Avenue, I would head off to Serra Monte Mall in Daily City to replenish my supply of v neck t shirts for men in white of course. Being a teenager, and physically active took a toll on the once pristine fabric of my shirts, and wanting to look good for girls in the neighborhood and at El Camino High School, I would have to buy more on a regular basis. Therefore, in reality you had two piles of tees after the laundry after a while. Some shirts were deemed fit for work and play, others for school, and shopping.

While at the mall it was also time to stock up on white leather shoe polish in the liquid form. Mostly nurses purchased this color of polish, but those primitive leather Nike shoes would not look new for more than a few days, and needed constant touching up to look presentable in public. It is truly ironic how such a simple ensemble of clothing would require such maintenance and attention, you never know when your future wife is going to appear right before your very eyes, and this type of eternal vigilance is required for the late 70s west coast male teen that wears such items as v neck t shirts.
