Memory Foam Mattress Pad

Have you ever considered purchasing a memory foam mattress pad?   There are quite a lot of benefits – notably health benefits, as memory foam has been recommended by many doctors for people who wish to prevent the onset of back problems later in life.  Of course, there are the drawbacks as well – let’s not kid ourselves, memory foam is abnormally expensive (particularly for mattress technology, which is not exactly known for its high flyer status, as far as the world of household goods are concerned). Indeed, examining the cost of a regular mattress and a memory foam mattress side by side would probably cause a consumer to come to the conclusion that memory foam is not worth the premium in price, simply because of the fact that it is twice as expensive.

But of course, there are certainly the benefits as well. As mentioned at the mattress pads guide, there are the health benefits. There is also the technological benefit – in other words, the fact that you are able to purchase an extremely high tech piece of space age technology, the results of years and years of technical research by teams of scientists, for a very reasonable and affordable price. After all, memory foam was developed by NASA to allow astronauts to be more comfortable during the takeoff and landing segments of spaceflight – and no doubt the technology was incredibly costly to research, and burned through millions of taxpayer dollars at the time. In a lot of ways, it is quite fitting that that money has now come back to us in the form of benefits, and that we are now finally able to enjoy the returns from the high government spending on the research that went into the invention of memory foam.

Ultimately, of course, the question of whether the costs outweigh the benefits is up to you, the consumer, to decide. Whatever you do, don’t simply listen to what other people say and form your opinion based on that generalization – make your decision based on the facts in your own case.
