The bright colors of electrified neon make it easy to see. The amount of current it takes to keep a sign illuminated 247 is negligible. And the best aspect of the sign is the amount of time it continues to burn. Unlike a traditional light bulb a neon sign frankly speaking will never burn out. Neon will continue to glow under the electric current long after the light of the stars expires. Unfortunately, there are problems with the glass, wiring and other signage components that cause neon signs to eventually dim, or cease to illuminate in certain areas. The gas itself would burn forever but the other factors prohibit this. Nevertheless, a neon sign can easily stay in commission for twenty to thirty years. That is good shelf life, for any product.
