Washable Wool Blankets
Many people are aware of the many benefits of clothing made from the various different types of wool, but are not aware that the same properties that make wool coats, sweaters, and jackets so popular can be found in blankets as well.
So often it gets stuck in ones mind that all things that are made from this amazing material must be “scratchy”. This is most likely because they remember something along the lines of that wool sweater that grandma knitted for them one Christmas and that their mother made them wear it so that grandma would not feel bad.
While it is true that there still are products made from the coarser wool from sheep such as thick coats and jackets as well as blankets, in recent years the popularity of washable wool blankets made from the softest part of sheep’s coat have become a mainstay in a lot of people’s bedrooms.
Often times you will find a soft merino wool blanket draped over a chair in the living room. This is an excellent thing to have around for when it gets a little chilly in the evening or even on a cold and rainy summer day. There are fewer things more cozy than snuggling under a soft blanket around a campfire either.
While many products made of this amazing material have strict instructions to dry clean only, the truth of the matter is that even if you have a favorite coat or jacket that is made from wool and you can not wash it in the washing machine you really only need to have it dry cleaned every other year or so depending on how much you wear it. The only exception to this would be is if your coat is very light in color like the many popular womens wool coats that are white or a variation of this color that you see so often.
